Mum sent me an owl telling me to start studying for my OWLs and I told her there was no point in it since I'm going to become a famous quidditch player and they don't need OWLs, and it's months away anyway. She replied by sending me a howler.

I've received parcels from home today. It was nice, gifts and sweets and such. Mum didn't seem very happy that I had stayed at the castle over winter hols, but what other time can I have the pitch all to myself? Mostly. I suppose the snow'll create a bit of a problem, but good practice, eh?

Common's empty and quiet without the lot of you here. I suppose I should take advantage of that and study or something.

Oi, Lily, thanks for the Arithmancy help.

Why am I such rubbish at Arithmancy? Got a D on my last paper. A bloody D. Honestly, it should've been at least a P.
